The Tour de France came through my village this year, right past my front door. We were also very lucky to have a royal visit from Prince William, Kate and Harry which added to the excitement. But I think my favourite memory will be the atmosphere between neighbours.
We were all out in front gardens and pavements and the time before the race came through, for me, was the best. My next door neighbour, who is a gunsmith, donned his roller blades, knee pads, skimpy shorts and a flag for a cape, and entertained us all by whizzing up and down the road! Sue Godden
My favourite memory was meeting the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the Tour de France in West Tanfield Mitsy Cowey
Meeting William and Kate during the Tour de France Alistair Bardon
The 2012 Olympics and Paralympics are great memories but I know that although I’m delving into the future, Saturday 5th July 2014 will be my favourite sporting memory. I will be in East Witton watching Le Tour fly around the corner! My screams of excitement will be heard on Mars! Nicola Wheeler, Emmerdale
Grand Depart Tour de France Yorkshire - Reeth, North Yorkshire - amazing atmosphere! Phil Martin
Tour de France! As a tour maker - in a small village in Swaledale - the peloton whizzed past like a mobile rainbow J.M. Bainy
