Carolyn Haskins: 2014, Le Tour in Yorkshire - volunteering with the Tour

I volunteered to be a Tour Maker when the Tour de France came to Yorkshire. I had to be up at 5 am and in Leeds by 6:30 am, wearing my bright green uniform. We were taken to our positions along the route. My job was to answer any questions from spectators and make sure the route was kept clear. It was a great atmosphere. Then the excitement began to build. Helicopters were circling over head. Then the cyclists arrived and sped past with lots of cheering from the crowd. What a great day!
